This arvo, our director, Louise Tu’u, was stoked to take part in a group ride, organised by Frocks on Bikes, to celebrate the visit of Janette Sadik-Khan: urbanist rock star, author and advocate to international cities on cycling and walking possibilities and current principal to Bloomberg Associates. As former Commissioner of New York City Department of Transportation (2007-2013), Sadik-Khan’s foresight, pragmatism and vision led to rapidly transform the city’s many car-dominant lanes and parking into pedestrian plazas, cycling lanes and simultaneously reduce fatalities on the roads.

She had visited Tāmaki Makaurau 10 years ago so was keen to see how this City of Sails had transformed for the better for people powered transport.

Here is a photo of some of the wonderful brown womxn cyclists from @Triple Teez: Soko, Bella ma Esther with Louise at the beginning of the ride.

And here is Janette Sadik-Khan, speaking to eager audiences as part of Auckland Conversations, held at Aotea Centre tonight. She also spoke with Rt Hon. Helen Clark about her work, passion and inspiration for us all to keep pushing for people, populating our streets safely.

Fa’afetai tele lava ia Pippa Coom ma Jessica Rose for the lovely invite and the chance to hang out and meet with awesome people like Tiffany Robinson, Vivienne Frances Long, Fiain d’Leafy, Jane the retired architect, Remco de Blaaij, Teva Chonon, Angie Lin, Chris Dempsey and Liam Friary.
