Developed and made possible by Bella, Fualaa’u and Sese at the Ōtāhuhu Town Hall Community Centre (OTHCC) with support from the Mangere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board, the Ōtāhuhu Wheels is a session where locals are encouraged and welcome to ride their own bike or if they don’t have one, to use the awesome bikes, helmets and hi-vis vests on loan. Participants also were able to make their own planter box, also providing free soil and seedlings to plant inside, design and decorate their helmets and once proficient in riding their bikes and practising around the cones of the bike circuits in the adjacent carpark, were able to go on a short and safe ride, led by Sese and his team of experienced riders.

The skill, passion and enjoyment that this team of three share about bike riding and making it a safe space for everyone is clearly evident in the clarity, accessibility and joyfulness of their activities

We had a wonderful time, met and hung out with new peeps and enjoyed a nice snack of hot sausages and bread too.

Here’s Bella from OTHCC sharing about the event and what’s coming up.
