West Art Ride and Avondale Night Ride and Street Festival

This afternoon, our director, Louise Tu’u, went along to the Te Piringa/Alford Street Bridge, designed by architects Warren & Mahoney, at Te Auaunga/Oakley Creek (Thank you Padraig Dempsey for the helpful instructions) to participate in the West Art Ride, curated and led by Piet Ubels.

As a group of 12 riders, including Piet who led, we rode at a calm pace, along part of the Waterview Shared Path, meeting other riders and sharing conversations about the ride, life and the fantastic state of the path.

Piet is a passionate, patient and generous guide, whose many informed and responsive promptings to the group about what is art on the tour, where and why works may have been placed here and what we were viewing made for stimulating discussion as we kept going.

We then headed over to the Avondale Night Ride and Street Festival, organised by Bike Avondale and supported by everyone. What an absolute blast! Check out our photos below:
